The Boys and Girls Club of Webster-Dudley, Inc. is seeking a motivated, dependable, and creative individual to join our team as a Youth Development Specialist. This role focuses on enhancing member engagement through structured programming, creative activities, and teen leadership opportunities that support youth development.
The Youth Development Specialist plays an important role in creating an engaging and welcoming Club environment. This position is responsible for coordinating activities that encourage member participation, facilitating arts and crafts programming, and leading the Club’s teen program. Staff in this role serve as mentors and positive role models while helping youth build confidence, develop social skills, and form meaningful connections within the Club.
This position may be structured as a part-time (20 hours), full-time (30 hours), or full-time (40 hours) role depending on applicant availability and organizational needs.
Schedule
During the school year, core program hours run between 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Additional hours may be required to support program planning, activity coordination, Club operations, after-hours programming, teen activities, or special events depending on the selected position structure.
During school vacation weeks and summer programming, hours may expand based on program needs. School vacation and summer program hours generally fall between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm.
Compensation starts at $20 per hour.
Primary Responsibilities
• Coordinate and lead engaging activities that encourage member participation and involvement in Club programming.
• Develop and facilitate arts and crafts programming and creative activities in the art room.
• Lead and support the Club’s teen program, helping create activities and opportunities that appeal to teen members.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate enrichment activities for youth ages 5–13.
• Supervise youth in a safe and structured environment.
• Maintain accurate attendance and conduct regular head counts to ensure proper supervision.
• Support positive behavior expectations and build strong relationships with members.
• Work collaboratively with other staff to deliver high-quality youth development programming.
• Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and safe program areas.
• Ensure compliance with Boys and Girls Club policies and Massachusetts EEC regulations.
Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and have reliable transportation.
Candidates must meet one of the following Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) qualifications:
a. Have a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree and at least three months of experience working with school-age children; or
b. Have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience at a school-age childcare program; or
c. Have at least nine months of experience working with school-age children, including three months of supervised experience at a school-age childcare program.
